Dark circles under the eyes can make a person look tired or run down. Dark circles are caused by aging, hereditary and lifestyle factors, such as smoking, alcohol consumption and not getting enough sleep. Instead of fillers and prescription retinoids to treat dark circles, you may want to try over-the-counter serums as a less expensive alternative.

Reviva Under Eye Dark Circle Serum

According to the manufacturer, dark circles under the eyes can be caused by the capillaries leaking hemoglobin. The biopeptide and bioflavonoid complex in the undereye serum was created to eliminate the hemoglobin causing the dark circles. The serum is also used to decrease puffiness around the eyes. Ingredients found in Reviva Under Eye Dark Circle Serum are demineralized spring water, simethicone, glycerin, hydrolyzed soy protein and palmitoyl oligopeptide. Use the serum once in the morning and once before bed. Apply the solution under each eye using small tapping motions.

Dark Circle Serum by Wrinkle System

This serum is part of a three-part system to treat the signs of aging on the skin, including dark circles. The other two products in the line are the Extreme Cleansing Gel, which is used to wash the face before the application of the Wrinkle Reduction Cream. After applying these products, the Dark Circle Serum is placed on the finger and tapped onto the undereye area. Ingredients used to treat dark circles in the product are soy peptides, rice peptides, yeast protein and hyaluronic acid. The serum is sold in 10ml quantities, and each bottle lasts approximately two months.

Darphin Dark Circles Relief and De-Puffing Eye Serum

This serum works at both relieving eye puffiness and fading dark circles, according to the manufacturer. Pump a small amount of the serum onto the fingertips. Smooth the serum around the eyes in a figure eight motion. Use only a light amount of the serum and apply on a daily basis as needed. Active ingredients include peptides, glycerin, passionflower, rose and licorice extracts.
