Skin care products are designed to improve the health of your skin by supplying moisture and protection to your skin cells. Skin care lines that are considered the best by dermatologists have a wide variety of products to treat all skin types and skin care needs. Purchase products that cater to your skin type and use them as directed for the best results.

Olay

Olay began in the home laboratory of chemist Graham Wulff in the early 1950s. Wulff wished to create a product that was different from the greasy facial creams that were popular during that time. Wulff’s products were designed to penetrate rapidly, be compatible with a variety of skin types, protect the skin, and restore and hold moisture within 10 minutes after application. The original name of this skin care line was Oil of Olay Beauty Fluid but was later changed to Olay by Procter and Gamble in 2000.

Today, Olay products treat skin types ranging from combination/oily to sensitive and skin care concerns ranging from acne to rough patches. Additionally, Olay has anti-aging, body moisturizing, facial cleansing and sunless tanning products.

Neutrogena

Neutorgena Corp. produces and markets a line of fairly priced skin and hair care products to more than 70 countries. Neutrogena began under the name Natone, founded by Emanuel Stolaroff in 1930. In 1954, Stolaroff befriended a Belgian cosmetic chemist named Dr. Edmond Fromont whose patented skin care formula produced a mild, clear soap that rinsed easily and returned skin to its normal pH in only one minute after application. Fromont’s formula was adopted by Stolaroff and later sold in the United States, where it was bought by Johnson & Johnson in 1994.

All Neutorgena products are dermatologist-tested to address a range of skin care concerns from deep wrinkle prevention to acne fighting to oil reduction. Products are broken up into facial, hair, skin and cosmetic categories, and products are formulated to treat your specific concern within each category.

Vaseline Intensive Care

In 1870, Robert Chesebrough discovered a 100 percent natural product from within the earth’s core that was rich in minerals. This product—petroleum jelly—had remarkable skin-healing properties that Chesebrough began to commercialize under the brand name Vaseline. Vaseline’s lotions and body creams are made with vitamins A and E, aloe vera, and other minerals and essential nutrients to hydrate, firm and moisturize the skin on your entire body.

Aveeno

Albert and Sydney Musher created the brand Aveeno in 1945 with a belief that centuries-old beauty remedies would hold the promise for human wellness. Partnering with the Mayo Clinic, the Mushers experimented with raw cereals, which led to the discovery of a natural bath additive that contained 100 percent colloidal oatmeal—milled to an ultra-fine powder. Colloidal oatmeal is known for its ability to lock in moisture and relieve irritated skin.

Aveeno’s products—made with soy, oats, shiitake, blackberry leaf, dill and feverfew—are broken up into collections such as Positively Ageless, Positively Radiant, Clear Complexion and Ultra-Calming. These collections include body, facial, sun, hair and baby care products with such items as lotions, cleansers, lip balms and cosmetics. Aveeno’s extensive line of skin care products has been endorsed by dermatologists and pediatricians for more than 60 years due to their effectiveness and the safety of their natural ingredients.
