Wearing contact lenses can provide a convenient alternative to glasses as well as change your overall appearance. It is normal to be a bit apprehensive the first time you put in your contact lenses. Once you learn what works best for you, with practice the task becomes much easier. Before you know it, putting in contacts will become part of your daily routine and you will rarely give it a second thought.
Wearing Lenses
Step 1
Wash your hands thoroughly. Use a soap that is free of moisturizers to avoid build up. Dry your hands well on a lint free towel.
Step 2
Remove the cover on the right side of your contact lenses case. Do only one at a time and leave the left side as it is.
Step 3
Insert your right index finger to scoop out the contact. Ensure the contact is right side out. The edges should curve inward resembling a bowl.
Step 4
Rinse the lens thoroughly with solution.
Step 5
Use your left hand to hold your right eye open. Reach from overhead and use the index finger to hold the top lid and lashes against your eyebrow. Hold the lower lid out of the way with your middle finger.
Step 6
Look upward a little and gently place the lens on your eye between the two eyelids.
Step 7
Adjust the lens gently as needed to place it over the colored part of your eye. Pull the finger straight back off the lens.
Step 8
Look down a little then close your eyes and open them again. Repeat the process for the left eye, using the right hand to open your eyelid.
Step 9
Rinse the storage case with warm tap water, let it air dry with the covers off and refill it with fresh solution.
Tips and Warnings
- Plug the sink and work, leaning close to the counter in case you drop your contact. This will make it easier to find. Use sprays such as hairspray, perfume or deodorant before you put in your contacts to avoid getting spray on your lenses.
- Be very gentle with your lenses, there is no need to use force and this could cause them to tear. If you drop a lens always clean it with solution again before using.
