Anxiety can manifest in a variety of symptoms including difficulty concentrating, fatigue, irritability, muscle tensions, trouble sleeping, constant worry, rapid heart rate and sweating, notes MayoClinic.com. Your ability to cope with these anxiety symptoms can help improve your ability to function in your relationships, in your daily routine and at work. The ability to positively deal with anxieties and anxiety-producing situations can have positive consequences on your overall health and well-being, and build your resilience.

Step 1

Learn relaxation techniques. According to MayoClinic.com, relaxation techniques can help ease symptoms of anxiety. Practice the art of meditation. Begin by doing it for five minutes a day.

Engage in self-massage, as it will help you keep the body tensions associated with anxiety at bay. Run your fingertips over your scalp in a circular manner for a few minutes. Gently massage your eyes and run your fingers down the bridge of your nose across your cheek bones.

Use deep breathing techniques or counting to 10 to deal with anxieties in the moment. Join a yoga class.

Step 2

Make time to do things you enjoy. Anxieties can take over your life if you allow them to; therefore, it is important to keep them under control by doing things you love. Set your worries aside and do at least one activity a day that gives you pleasure. Read a book. Visit with a friend. Work on a craft or hobby.

Step 3

Let go. Avoid becoming anxious over the small stuff. Anxieties can come from your inability to get everything done perfectly. It is important to accept that you cannot accomplish everything.

Do not take on more than you can handle. Accept your efforts and do not strive only for perfection. Try to enjoy the things you do. Understand that others may let you down at some points in time.

Step 4

Accept uncertainty. According to HelpGuide.org, if you chronically worry, you may feel the need to know everything that is going on in the future and you feel that worrying will help ward off any unwanted surprises. But this kind of thinking it is ineffective. Enjoy the good things that are occurring. Do not focus on worst-case scenarios. Challenge your need for certainty.

Step 5

Increase you emotional intelligence. HelpGuide.org suggests that increasing your emotional intelligence builds your resilience and can help you cope and bounce back from instances that produce anxiety, such as adversity, trauma and loss.

Practice being hopeful; even when things are difficult or challenging. Find positive and creative ways to solve problems. Be aware of the variety of emotions you are experiencing. Rationalize and question your anxieties.
