County Wexford is bordered by the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Sandy beaches dot its shore along with fishing villages. Camping in Ireland requires some thoughtful preparation for the inevitable elements. Have a tarp to keep off the rain and stake it well for when the wind picks up. Never underestimate a good wool sweater and a pair of rubber boots or "wellies" as they are called here. Keep in mind when camping near a lake that tiny flies called midges like to bite. The best time to camp is the summer months and the camping season is typically April through September. County Wexford boasts the famous fresh seafood of Kilmore Quay village and the National Heritage Park at Ferrycarrig. Overlooking Waterford Harbour at Hook's Head is one of the oldest operating lighthouses in the world.
