Showdown Montana Ski Area is located in Central Montana at an elevation of 8,200-feet in the Little Belt Mountain range within a short drive from White Sulphur Springs. Showdown has 34 trails with 1,400 vertical feet of skiing on 640 acres. Privately owned Showdown has one triple chairlift, two double chairlifts and one surface conveyor. The average snow fall is 20 feet. The winter temperature ranges from 16 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Terrain
Showdown offers skiing for all ability levels. Approximately 30 percent of the trails are classified as beginner runs. Nearly 40 percent are Intermediate level and 30 percent are considered expert-level ski trails. Cross country skiing trails are located next to the main ski hill. Snowboarders of all skill levels can choose among various dedicated trails.
First-Time Ski Packages
Showdown is a family-owned ski resort. Children four years and up are welcome at Showdown. An all-inclusive three-day learn to ski and ride the lift costs $109 for first-time skiers ages seven and up. A similar package is available for first-time snowboarders, ages 11 and up.
Beginners who complete the three-day introductory package will receive a free three-day ski lift ticket. Current information is available at Showdown Montana’s website.
Ski Season
The anticipated opening for Showdown’s ski season is December 10th and generally ends the first week in April. Special season passes for children, students, adults and seniors provide significant discounts. Limited five-day or 10-day passes for adults, juniors and senior are available. Full- or half-day lift tickets for all age and skill levels are reasonably priced and children under age five are free.
Ski Events
Showdown plans numerous events throughout the ski season. During the Christmas and New Year’s holiday, Showdown features a “Ski with Santa” event and “Torchlight Parade and Fireworks” on December 31st. Throughout the ski season, Ladies Day events, Extreme Skiing and themed events are available. Birthday parties for kids’ 14-years and under receive special group rates and the birthday celebrant gets a free lift ticket
Cross Country Skiing
Showdown is in the sweet spot of the Little Belt Mountain range. The 12 miles of tree adorned groomed trails adjacent to the ski hill is a wonderland for cross country skiing enthusiasts.
Ski Equipment Rentals and Accomodations
Showdown offers low-cost downhill ski equipment rentals on a full- or half-day basis. Snowboards, cross country skis and poles are available as well. Showdown has food and beverages on site. The Showdown Montana website has a list of nearby lodges and motels for vacationers.
