Windsor California is a small town located in the Sonoma County in Northern California. Windsor is a picturesque city with many events and celebrations during the year. There are many hiking and biking trails to keep you active and city parks where you can relax and enjoy the mild temperatures.

Local Parks

Windsor has several city parks throughout the city where you can enjoy an afternoon picnic or play softball or tennis. Foothill Regional Park has more than 211 acres which includes three lakes for fishing only, primarily Bass and Bluegill, along with natural trails suitable for bikers, hikers and horseback riders. The park has picnic areas with restrooms, and dogs are allowed on leashes.

Walking and Hiking

Pick one of several city walking routes to get exercise, enjoy the outdoors and see the landscape up close. Take the Old Redwood highway Loop, a hike for the experienced hiker with some hills and rocks over 5 miles in length. Another trail for hiking is Jensen Loop which has even and flat terrain and is just over 3 miles in length.

Biking

Windsor is a bicycle friendly city with several places in town that rent bicycles for a small fee. There are many trail rides leading out of Windsor. Vineman-Half Pond is a challenging one even for experienced riders while the Pine Flat trail, though 43 miles long, is flat and scenic with trees and natural landscape. Chalk Hill is a 26 mile, fairly flat back-road trail while the Windsor-WorldMark is a back-country trail 15 miles on flat terrain.

Golf

If golfing is your passion take a swing at the Windsor Golf Club, which hosts six Professional Golf Association Nike tournaments.The length of the course is 6,650 feet and includes a lake and a stream. Each hole has four tee options for all golfers. As of 2010 there were price breaks for kids under 18 and seniors.

Farmers Market

Farmer's Market on the Town Green has fresh produce picked the morning of market, as well as cheese and bread if you want to put together a healthy picnic. It also has vendors for other food, including barbecue, and arts and crafts booths. The market is open on Sundays from May through October, and Thursdays from June through August. The Thursday night market also includes live entertainment.
