Believe it or not, Las Vegas has more to offer than burlesque night shows and dicey ways to gamble your bills. For those in active pursuit of more productive things to do in Las Vegas, why not take advantage of some if the less mainstream activities Sin City has to offer.
Grand Canyon Helicopter and Hike Tour
Hop aboard a helicopter from Las Vegas to nearby Grand Canyon and enjoy a bird's eye view of the breathtaking national park. Some air tours include a brief landing for a champagne lunch and short hike at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Golf Courses
Avoid casino fever by getting outside for an afternoon of golf. Las Vegas has some challenging golf courses with early and mid-day tee times available. Most famously, Angel Park Golf Club was designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer and features a 36-hole layout, for the more experienced golfer.
Kayaking Tours
Escape the Las Vegas heat with a refreshing water activity. Half-day kayaking trips from Las Vegas are an active way to spend your afternoon no matter your skill level. A kayaking guide will get you all the gear you need and teach you everything you need to know before setting out on the calm waters of Lake Mead. Tours include a healthy gourmet lunch and dry bags for any personal items you may need with you.
The Strip Trip
Walk the famed main strip in Las Vegas, stopping for the musical fountains at the Bellagio and the eruption of the volcano at the Mirage. The fountains at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino provide a free awe-inspiring spectacle every 30 minutes. Get your camera ready for the fountain spouts set to music that reach heights of nearly 250 feet in the air. Continue to walk the strip down to the Mirage Hotel, where a huge volcano sits ready to erupt with sparks of fire and steam throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Biking
Rent a bike and explore the Las Vegas area as a cyclist. Ask the rental company for directions to Red Rock Canyon, which is an easy ride from Las Vegas. Las Vegas Cyclery, located on West Charleston Boulevard, conveniently rents bikes and safety gear for either half days or full days.
