Orange Beach, Alabama, near the Gulf Shores and the border of Florida, is an ocean and outdoor enthusiasts paradise. Whether you want to take a stroll on the beach, catch red snapper or hit the links, you can find it all close to you. Young and old can always find something to draw them outdoors.

Charter Fishing

At Zeke's Landing Marina and the Bear Point Marina, you can charter fishing boats to take you onshore, off-shore or for a multiple-day trip on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Family fishing trips are also available. Some of the typical fish you can catch are red snapper and mackerel.
You can also fish from the many beach piers along the gulf waters, including Orange Beach and Florida Point. You need a nonresident or resident fishing license to fish in Alabama. Licenses can be purchased at the marinas and at fishing supply stores.

Snorkeling and Diving

You can head to one of the jetties for snorkeling and diving. The Perdido Pass Jetty, near Alabama Point and Florida Point beaches, is full of wildlife under the sea. About 15 minutes by car is Gulf Shores, Alabama, where snorkeling and diving await.
Typical water temperatures are 80 to 87 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 67 to 80 degrees in the fall. The winter months are in the 55 to 67 degree range and spring temperatures range from 70 to 78 degrees. The dangerous jellyfish and man of war are residents of these waters. For daily surf conditions, call 251-981-SURF (7873).

Golfing

About 10 golf courses are a short drive away from Orange Beach. The closest course is the Orange Beach Golf Center. This par three course is open seven days a week with plenty of hazards on course from trees to sand traps and water in between. Weekly specials and discounts are available for the lighted driving range. Golf carts can be rented and a pro shop has all the last-minute items you need.

Hit the Beach

Several public beaches and miles of shoreline are available around Ocean Beach. One of the most popular areas for families is Ocean Beach Waterfront Park because it has a kid's park and arts center along with a fishing pier, restrooms and picnic tables. The Ocean Beach Library along with hiking/biking trails are also right next to the beach.
Florida and Alabama Point beaches are right next to each other on the east and west sides of Perdido Pass. Beach access is easiest at Florida Point. Boardwalks are available to walk and piers to fish on. Restrooms are on-site.

Play Tennis

At the Tennis Center, part of the Ocean Beach Parks and Recreation, you can tap the fuzzies on any of the eight lighted hard courts. Open to the public seven days a week, the tennis center also has ball machines and also offers lessons and programs for players from youth to senior. The Pro Shop can set you up with a new set of strings or new can of balls.

Water Sports

Whether you like to kayak, jetski or surf, you can do all of these activities at Orange Beach. Sun Harbor Water Sports and Tacky Jacks are two places you can rent jetskis and kayaks, book a parasail and find anything you need for water fun.
