Shows

January is a slightly less crowded month for visiting Las Vegas and can be an excellent time to check out the large variety of shows that perform on a nightly basis. Magic, cabaret, musical, comedy and adult shows offer something for everyone. One of the favorites that has been performing on the Vegas Strip for years is the Penn & Teller Magic Show. A mixture of comedy, illusion, and magic tricks keep visitors coming back year after year. Another show that is quite popular is the Blue Man Group. It is a show based around percussion instruments and comedy but is a unique experience suitable for all ages. In 2009 Disney's the Lion King Broadway musical started being performed every night as well and is a great choice for a show for those visiting with families.

Luxury Spas

A hidden gem of the Las Vegas hotels is the excellent full service spas that they offer. At all of the luxury hotels they have full service spas providing anything from seaweed wraps and facials to full body massages. January can be a great time for spa treatments as with the smaller amount of visitors you can find some special deals on spa services. Slow down and enjoy a day of pampering in Las Vegas.

Thrill Rides

Nestled high atop the Stratosphere 112 stories off the ground those with a wish for a serious adrenaline rush can find three of the most extreme rides in the world. The Big Shot is one of the rides located on top of the tower that launches riders 160 fit into the air to a maximum height of 1087 feet off of the ground. The Insanity is another ride located on top of the Stratosphere it lets visitors go 68 feet over the edge of the tower and face the ground from while strapped into a harnessed seat 112 stories below as the ride spins it riders in dizzying fashion. The other ride on top of the tower is called the X Scream. It simulates the teeter totters we rode as kids with the big difference being it gives riders the feeling of falling off the edge of the tower 866 feet to the ground.

Attractions

January is a great time to enjoy some of the exhibits on display at the different hotels. One of the special attractions setup in Las Vegas is the exhibit simply named Bodies. Using actual human bodies it shows what the body looks like on the inside. Be warned though it may not be the right exhibit for those with a squeamish stomach. Another popular attraction is the Titanic Exhibit at the Luxor hotel. It has on display over 300 actual artifacts from the famous sunken cruise liner as well as displaying many replicas of key features of the ship such as the grand staircase.
