There are plenty of activities in Sacramento and Apple Hill for a person looking to stay physically fit and active whenever possible. Matching its famously hot summers are hiking, swimming and tourism hot spots in this Northern California region that delivers on its promise to keep its residents and visitors moving.

Sky Zone

Sky Zone Sports is the top trampoline sports complex in the Sacramento area. Adventurous spirits can join up with one of the trampoline dodge ball leagues or just simply come to bounce for a few hours on their floor to ceiling trampolines. This is a fun way to get exercise in a different way next time you are in Sacramento. Sky Zone also hosts various aerobics classes for both kids and adults.

River Rafting

Sacramento County is home to river rafting on the American River-- whether you like to kayak down a peaceful section of water or knuckle grip it whitewater rafting with the winter Sierra run off each spring/summer, there is a water adventure waiting for you. Book early with one of the whitewater rafting groups in the area if you know you'll be in town--it's safest to go with one of these experienced guides.

Capitol Park Loop Trail

The Capitol Park Loop Trail is one of the most popular walking destinations in Sacramento. Here you can visit some of the most beautiful capitol grounds in America, exploring memorials, a 40-acre Victorian garden and plenty of paths for both jogging and bike riding.

Apple Picking

Meander on up to El Dorado County's Apple Hill to visit the many farms and fruit stands throughout the region. In the summer and fall, enjoy apple picking as you hike along hillsides filled with apple trees and other fruit orchards where you can rent a bucket and pick until your heart's content. In the winter, you can also enjoy sledding, tubing and chopping down your own Christmas tree at Apple Hill.

Volksmarch Walk

Every November, the Placer Pacers Volksport Club features a walk/run that anyone can enter. Register for the 5K, 10K or 13K depending upon your level of ambition and enjoy the great scenery as fall turns to winter in Apple Hill.
