Facial exercises provide a free and all-natural way to tone the muscles of the face, and they are an effective alternative to surgery in many cases. The eye area is often a trouble spot for dark circles, bags under the eyes and a droopy forehead and eyebrows. These issues can be addressed using facial exercises up to three times daily.

Eye Lift

Use this exercise to give yourself an all-natural upper eye and brow lift. It works by strengthening the muscles in your forehead. Begin by placing your three middle fingers of each hand directly below each eyebrow. Keep your eyes open during the entire first repetition. Push your eyebrows up and slightly outwards using your fingertips; hold this position. With your fingers holding your eyebrows high, try to lower your eyebrows while resisting the movement with your fingertips; hold the first repetition for five seconds. Take a deep breath between each repetition, and increase the hold time to 10 seconds after the first one. Make sure to close your eyes once you reach a seven count for the second, third and final repetition. The entire facial exercise session takes a total of 35 seconds—four repetitions—but you need to be sure that you take your time between repetitions and perform each movement slowly. You will begin seeing results after just one week of performing this exercise on a daily basis, according to the skin experts at Cynthia Rowland Beauty Systems.

Bags under Your Eyes

Begin this exercise by closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths to relax. Once you are in a relaxed state, lift your eyebrows as high as you can; hold for two seconds before relaxing. Next, open your eyes widely, and hold this position for two seconds before relaxing. Repeat these two movements at least 10 times per session.

Muscle Toning

Strengthen the muscles around your eyes using this facial exercise. Start by gently placing your fingertips on each of your temples. Close your eyes, and keep them closed during the entire movement. Look up and then down as far as possible while your fingers provide resistance to the movement. Perform a total of 10 repetitions per session.

Dark Circles

You can lessen the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eyes using this exercise. Place the index and middle finger of your right hand underneath your right eye. Do the same thing for the left eye. Next, lift your lower eyelids using your facial muscles while providing slight resistance with your fingertips. Make sure that you do not provide too much pressure with your fingertips—just enough to make it harder to lift your lower eyelids is fine. Do a total of 20 repetitions, making sure to do each one slowly.
