Winston Churchill once said, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." This is true in your personal life, home life, and especially in your work life. At times, the workplace can be fraught with negative energy and unbalanced turmoil. The importance of maintaining a good attitude during these stressful times can be the difference in a positive jump in life or a negative fall. Either way, work attitude will affect many things.

Productivity

All it takes is one sneeze for a cold virus to spread like wild fire. Attitudes are very similar. If one person is negative and complaining about the way things are, others will follow. According to the National Resource Center, negativity will affect both the productivity and profitability of an organization. However, the opposite is true as well. Those who enjoy their work and have no complaints get more work done. If they hear no complaints, they will be less likely to complain, as well.

Admiration

Many of the greatest leaders and those who have established great careers were admired. This admiration did not come from years of bickering or from being in a crabby mood. It was manifested by the good attitude that they shared with others. The smile that turned someone's bad day into a good day is remembered. If that happens on a daily basis, the person with a good attitude will be admired and have a better chance at a leadership position.

Increased Energy

It is rare to see someone with a bad attitude do anything with vigor. They slump, slouch, drag, and drone about their day. Their lack of enthusiasm has depleted all of their energy, causing them to scrape through the day. Those who show a good attitude will have the opposite effect. They will walk with their head high, whistle, smile, and be energetic. Energy feeds off a good attitude and this is noticed quickly.

Boosts Client Satisfaction

Regardless of what you think, your attitude is directly tied to clients' satisfaction with your place of employment. Think of a bad attitude like a growling dog. If there is a growling dog roaming your facility, the clients will think twice before coming in. The clients need reassurance and they get that with consistent good attitudes. The bottom line is, if you want your job and your place of employment to succeed, you have to muzzle the dog or replace it with a cute puppy.

Sense of Purpose

According to MSNBC, fewer than half of American workers enjoy their jobs. There are many reasons to hate a job, but more important reasons to enjoy it. Regardless of where you are employed, if you carry a good attitude, you will also carry a sense of purpose. If you are doing a job, there is likely a demand for it and you are providing a service. In order to move onto something better, you have to be good at what you do now. Remember to smile and spread some joy, as this will allow the importance of having a good attitude at work to be realized.
