Bach herbal remedies were designed by Dr. Edward Bach, a U.K. doctor wanting to create a treatment therapy designed on psychic, not scientific belief. By 1934 he had moved to Mount Vernon in Oxfordshire, where the Bach Centre is located today. There are 38 of these remedies in which a medicinal plant is coupled with a personal trait or state of emotion. These herbal remedies are used for many different purposes, and to find the best selection for you, contact a Bach Foundation registered practitioner. Never start any herbal remedy before first consulting with a doctor.

Aspen

Aspen is the Bach floral remedy for having a fear of the unknown. When you are experiencing a vague fear and you do not know what it stems from or an unclear terror, this is the floral remedy the Bach Centre lists. The fear may be so strong that it cannot be spoken.

Beech

Beech is used for those who are intolerant. For those who need to be more lenient with the way life is, in the differences in others, and to see the good that surrounds us all, beech is the floral remedy, according to Dr. Bach.

Clematis

For those who live in dreams and distant futures without fully taking part in the present, clematis is the remedy. It is also for those that have no interest in getting well or even prefer death to their present state, according to Dr. Bach.

Crab Apple

The crab apple is for those that hate themselves, and is a floral cleansing remedy. It is for those with disease, hatred or another poison in their system that needs to be cleansed. Dr. Bach states that crab apple “purifies wounds if the patient has reason to believe that some poison has entered which must be drawn out.”

Heather

Heather is for those that are only concerned with themselves. If there is someone where the world revolves around them and they are the center of their universe, with a need to discuss their affairs with those around them, this is the remedy. They tend to be unhappy alone, without an audience to tout their greatness.

Holly

Holly is a multi-use floral remedy and is for those with envy or jealous and hatred. It is a remedy for those that have a vengeful or suspicious mindset. The people who need this remedy are those who are often unhappy and suffering without any real cause, according to Dr. Bach.
