Detoxifying the body can have a tremendous amount of health benefits. Aside from the good feeling you get from just being healthy, cleansing the body's interior can result in an increase in energy, better awareness and all-around better health for the beneficiary. To thoroughly flush out your system, it can take anywhere from 3 days to a week.
Step 1
Begin your detox by fasting. Fasting does not get rid of toxins that are already in your body. What it does do is remove the possibility of any new toxins coming into your system. This will give the rest of the measures you take to detoxify a better chance of succeeding.
Step 2
Drink water. Water is a substance we do not ever seem to get enough of. This is unfortunate because water is great for detoxifying the body. A natural cleanser, water flushes out many toxins we have stored in our kidneys, the body's main germ and bacteria cleansing agent.
Step 3
Make lemon water. If water is good for detoxification, then lemon is like adding a little high-octane to the mixture. Put a lemon slice in each serving of water during your fast. Lemon juice actually kills bacteria and germs that are stored in our organs. The water will then flush the bacteria down to our kidneys.
Step 4
Add some juice to the mix. Fasting can be quite difficult if you are not accustomed to it. One way to satisfy hunger pangs is to take in some juice. But that is not the only reason why juice is a good staple in a detoxification diet. Juice contains enzymes that work to activate the body's immune system and allow your natural defenses to aid in the detoxification process.
Step 5
Fruits and vegetables will help. These will help with the hunger of fasting and use the same type of enzyme formula to boost the immune system and rid your body of toxins.
