Sandestin, Florida, is a gated city on the gulf side of Florida. Home to white sandy beaches and turquoise ocean waters, it's a great place to travel for an active yet tranquil vacation. Sandestin is located on Miramar Beach. For those travelers wary of gulf waters, Sandestin resort provides a web cam of the beach on its website and also up-to-date reports of water and air quality.

Golf

Sandestin is home to some of the best golf courses in the country and boasts four luxury courses: Baytowne Golf Club, Burnt Pine Golf Club, Raven Golf Club and The Links Course.

For those who want to learn golf, play better or get the same instruction the pros do, you can visit the Sandestin Golf Academy. The instructors use the same technology the PGA Tour players have access to use. Weekly clinics or individual instruction is available. For an added workout, forget that golf cart and walk the course.

Kayaking

Sandestin provides complimentary kayaks and paddles to guests of the resort at the Beach Hut or Taj Ma Hut at the Baytowne Marina from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take the kayak out to try invigorating sea kayaking or explore the bays. Kayaking is a good workout for your arms and core. If you fall into the water, don't fret about frigid water. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico stay a comfortable 75 degrees F all year long.

Tennis

What is a resort vacation without a satisfying game of tennis? Sandestin provides 15 world-class Hydrogird clay or hard courts. Ranked as one of the top 50 tennis resorts in the United States by Tennis Magazine, resort members can take advantage of the court's amenities through a game with friends or family, or take a couple of classes with an experienced instructor. Resort guest are provided with one free hour of tennis everyday. After an hour, it costs $12 an hour to use a court or $6 an hour at night, as of 2010. The resort also offers tennis vacation packages for the avid tennis player.

Sailing

Sailing provides the best of both worlds in physicality and relaxation. Sail out to calm waters and enjoy a swim in the typically clear waters. Sail boats along with an experienced captain are available to rent at the Baytowne Marina. Call ahead to make a reservation.

YOLO Boarding

Yoloing boarding is fairly recent addition to the water sport family. It is becoming a popular way to explore waterways and get an amazing workout. The trick of yoloing is standing on top of a wider, longer version of a longboard surfboard while paddling your way through the water using a long-handled paddle. Yolo equipment rentals and classes are available from the Baytowne Marina. Yoloing is great way to experience the bays of Sandestin.
