How to Get Motivated to Meet Set Goals

Whether you are looking to complete a triathlon, lose weight or meet some ambitious career goals, after determining what the goal is, it can be difficult to get started on meeting it. The goals you set are only as good as your progress toward them.

Step 1

Write your goals down and keep them in a place that you can see them every day.

Step 2

Create accountability for yourself. Discuss your goals with others and ask them to help keep you accountable. It can be as simple as asking you how you're progressing when you communicate with them or a more direct approach of checking in with you on a schedule (i.e. weekly or bi-weekly).

Step 3

Find a partner. Some goals are easier to begin working towards when you have direct mutual support (i.e. a workout partner at the gym).

Step 4

Create a timeline. Set a future deadline for when the goal should be accomplished. Schedule each step of the process necessary to meet your goal.

Step 5

Consider consequences of not meeting your goal. This could help to put things into perspective and incite motivation.
