Canoeing and Kayaking
Located less than 15 miles from Crystal Springs is the Hillsborough River State Park. Opened in 1938, it's one of Florida’s first state parks. The Hillsborough River, with its set of Class II rapids, divides the park and provides ample opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. A canoe and kayak launch is available at Parking Lot No. 4. Visitors may bring their own canoes and kayaks. Canoes can also be rented at the park.
Biking
There are also two bike paths at Hillsborough River State Park--a 1.6 mile Wetlands Restoration Nature Trail and a 2.2 mile Park Loop Trail. While all visitors are encouraged to wear helmets, children under 16 are required to do so. Bicycles can be rented at the park if needed.
Hiking
Hikers at Hillsborough River State Park have four trails to choose from: Rapids Trail, Baynard Trail, Florida Trail and Wetlands Restoration Trail. The Wetlands Restoration Trail is shared with bikers and totals 7.3 miles. A trail map may be obtained at the ranger's station.
Roller Skating
The Crystal Springs Roller Rink opened in 1939 and has been a landmark since. Buses of soldiers came in during the war to enjoy themselves. It is now only open Friday and Saturday evenings, and for private parties.
