Warts are a skin condition caused by the human papillomavirus, also known as HPV. According to the Doctors Book of Home Remedies, warts are the second most common dermatologic complaints after acne. Warts can occur anywhere on the body including the face, causing much cosmetic concern. Eliminating warts means treating the virus effectively. Warts are spreadable through contact, therefore you should never share towels or personal hygiene products when a wart is present.

Step 1

Apply a medicated cream containing 17 percent salicylic acid. According to the Mayo Clinic, this strength will gently peel off the skin of the wart until it has been healed. For best results, soak the wart with a cloth soaked in warm water for 10 to 20 minutes, pat dry and add medicated cream. In between applications, file away dead skin with an emory board.

Step 2

Apply a small piece of duct tape to the wart for six days and then soak the wart with warm water and scrub with a pumice stone or emory board. According to Daily Glow, this may be worn over wart-removal medication.

Step 3

Crush an aspirin and apply to the wart. Secure the crushed aspirin with cellophane tape to inhibit air flow to the wart. According to the Doctors Book of Home Remedies, this will cause the skin to remain moist and shrivel underneath, aiding in the absorption of the aspirin.

Step 4

Apply the contents of one vitamin A capsule to the wart. This will shrink the wart in a matter of days, according to Robert Garry, Ph.D., professor of microbiology and immunology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans in an excerpt from the Doctor’s Book of Home Remedies.

Step 5

Opt for cryosurgery to remove stubborn facial moles. This treatment utilizes liquid nitrogen to form a blister under and around the wart, according to the Mayo Clinic. The dead skin is then sloughed off in two to three weeks. Although effective, several treatments may be necessary, depending on the size of the wart.
