Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar is produced by Bragg Health Products, a company founded by Dr. Paul Bragg, a life extension specialist, and his daughter, Dr. Patricia Bragg. Apple cider vinegar is thought to have a number of benefits although many have yet been conclusively proven by scientific research. The use of apple cider vinegar in health dates back to around 400 B.C. when Hippocrates, commonly referred to as the 'Father of Medicine', was purported to have used it as an antibiotic.
Weight loss
According to Safeslimming.com, apple cider vinegar can help to support weight loss. The apple cider diet has been used since the 1970s. Supporters of the diet suggest that taking 1 to 3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before every meal, helps metabolize fat and ward off hunger and food cravings.
Diabetes
A 2008 research paper published in the "Pakistan Journal of Biological Science", suggests that apple cider vinegar may play a role in diabetes treatment. Lead author, F. Shishenhbor reports that "apple cider vinegar improved the serum lipid profile in normal and diabetic rats by decreasing serum TG, LDL-c and increasing serum HDL-c and may be of great value in managing the diabetic complications".
Arthritis
Arthritis sufferers have also turned to apple cider vinegar for its healing properties. In a 2007 article published in the "Telegraph" newspaper, author Matilda McLean revealed that the explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes tried cider vinegar to relieve arthritis in his hands and hips after seeing how it had transformed the life of his mother who suffered from arthritis in her lower back. However, there is no scientific proof that apple cider vinegar can alleviate arthritis. In a 1987 article published in the "Journal of the American Dietetic Association", the author, P.G. Wolman warns that although dietary supplements including apple cider vinegar are often touted as having miracle healing properties, patients should heed caution.
Other Benefits
According to a 2010 article published at Bella Online, author Linda Paul, claims that apple cider vinegar has a wide range of healing properties due to its high potassium content, which she reports can help ease allergies, sinus problems and symptoms of the common cold. She adds, "Cider vinegar can also be beneficial for symptoms such as tooth decay and splitting of the fingernails, which are symptoms of potassium deficiency."
