Clue, the classic "whodunit" board game, has undergone many changes since its debut in 1949. Some versions feature TV show characters, updated versions of the original characters and interactive play via your computer or cell phone. To get the whole family in on the fun, there are several versions of Clue that are suitable for kids and do not involve a murder. Instead, children's Clue games offer different mysteries to solve.

Clue, Jr.

Hasbro recommends Clue, Jr. for two to four players age 5 to 7. In this game, the original version of Clue, Jr., you must discover which character is hiding, in what room he or she is hiding, and which pet is with that character. The characters in Clue, Jr. are child versions of the characters from the original Clue game. The first player to solve the mystery correctly wins.

Clue, Jr. Carnival: The Case of the Missing Prizes

This version of Clue is suitable for players age 5 and up, with two to five players at a time. In this Clue game, you investigate the theft of carnival prizes. At the end, the player with the most correct guesses wins the game.

This game offers two levels of difficulty to fit your child's abilities. In the first level, you must guess who stole the prizes and when. The second level requires that you also guess from where the prizes were stolen.

Clue, Jr.: The Case of the Hidden Toys

This Clue, Jr. game is for two to four players age 5 to 8. In this game, the characters are pets, and you investigate which pet is hiding in the clubhouse and which toy the pet has. Players use kid-shaped markers based on the original Clue characters to travel around the board and gather clues. You may attempt to solve the mystery at any time, but if you guess wrong, you must sit out the rest of the game while the other players finish.

Clue, Jr.: The Case of the Missing Chocolate Cake

This Clue game is for two to six players age 5 to 8. The objective is to discover which character ate the missing chocolate cake, at what time and what he or she had to drink with it. The characters in this game are also kid versions of the original Clue characters. If you solve the mystery first, you win, but if you guess wrong you are out of the game.

Clue, Jr.: The Case of the Missing Pet

This version of Clue is for slightly older players, age 6 to 10, and is set in a shopping area with several stores. Up to six players may participate, or your child can play this game alone. The object is to discover the identity of the stolen pet, who stole it and in which store the pet is hidden. If you solve the mystery first, you win, but if you guess incorrectly, you are out of the game.

This version is more challenging than the other Clue children’s games, as the clues are less direct. You must figure out who the thief is through clues of eye color, hair color and facial expression. Clues to the location of the pet are the type of flooring and color of the sign in the store.
