Combined with the right training and nutrition program, supplements can provide that extra boost needed to obtain a leaner midsection. There are many of supplements on the market promising to burn belly fat, but only a few have the research to back up their claims. Please consult your doctor before ingesting any supplements.
Green Tea Extract
Green tea extract contains catechins, which are antixodants that have shown positive effects on fat loss, according to the February 2009 issue of the Journal of Nutrition. During a 12-week study, overweight and obese subjects ingested either green tea catechins or a placebo while performing exercise. Scientists found that the green tea catechin group lost more body fat, particularly around the abdominal region than those with a placebo.
CLA
This healthy fat might be promising in reducing body fat. According to the Nutra Ingredients website, researchers investigated the effects of conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, on overweight and obese subjects. Subjects consumed either three grams of CLA or a placebo per day for seven months. The study found that the CLA group had greater abdominal fat loss than the placebo group.
L-carnitine
L-carnitine is a non-essential amino acid that might be useful in the war against obesity. Researchers analyzed the impact of L-carnitine supplementation on fat oxidation, which is the process of breaking down fat for energy, and body composition in slightly overweight subjects. Subjects consumed a diet with or without three grams of L-carnitine for ten days. According to the August 2004 issue of the journal of Metabolism, scientists reported that the L-carnitine group had greater increases in fat oxidation compared to the placebo group.
Calcium
Besides preventing osteoporosis, getting an adequate amount of calcium in your diet can also aid fat loss, according to the April 2004 issue of Obesity Research. During a 24-week study, obese subjects consumed either 400 to 500 mg; 800 mg; or 1200-1300 mg of calcium while following a calorie restricted diet. Scientists found that subjects ingesting 1200-1300 mg of calcium per day lost more body fat, especially around the trunk region, compared to the other groups
