Cellulite is not pretty, and no one wants it. Dimples are only cute on babies. According to the book "28 Day Plan: Cellulite Buster," cellulite affects eight out of 10 women, mainly due to estrogen. Cellulite is not common in men. While cellulite cannot be cured, you can decrease its appearance. Your diet along with overall fitness improvement are crucial in effectively managing this condition.
Water
No perfect diet will reduce cellulite, but the literature suggests that water is the key to success. Water is a significant portion of the body's composition, and in the fight against cellulite water is your best friend. The more water you drink, the more toxins you will flush from the body. Toxins are stored in the fat cells, and cellulite is a localized concentration of fat just beneath the skin. Drink 6 to 8 cups of water per day. Having one cup every hour while at work is a good way to remember to drink enough water. Add lemon or lime juice or fresh ginger for flavor and nutrients.
Other Drinks
Phosphates (sodas diet and regular), caffeine and alcohol are enemies of the body in general but are especially bad for your skin. The goal for improving the appearance of cellulite is the elimination of toxins. If caffeine is the one thing you have to have or you get headaches, substitute the phosphate drinks for a strong cup of black tea or espresso. Otherwise herbal decaffeinate teas and coffee are a healthier option. Green tea contains antioxidants and goes right along with the overall detox goal.
Main Course
You have known for years that you must eat fruits and vegetables for a healthy, balanced diet. It's easy to fall into the drive-through trap, but in order to maintain a healthy diet you should take time to sit down and have a meal. When you can't do that, grab a low-fat option like a flat bread wrap with grilled or roasted meats and vegetables. A decrease in cellulite requires that you decrease your fat consumption. When you can sit down for a meal, start with a cup of soup or salad, and this will reduce the amount of food you will consume. Most soups have a water base, due to the stock used in preparation.
Prepare a salad with lettuce, parsley, onion, watercress, cabbage, cucumber, tomatoes, apples and avocado. Top your salads with vinaigrette or lemon juice instead of a creamy dressing. All these vegetables are high in water content, so are good additions to your daily meals year-round. Continue your meal with a small plate of lean baked, grilled or roasted meats and more vegetables. Avoid fried foods at all costs. Have a fresh fruit salad for a sweet ending.
