While you can't stop the natural aging process, there are some things you can do to help maintain a youthful, fresh appearance. Facial exercise is a part of a health and wellness lifestyle that may help reduce appearance of wrinkles, keep the facial muscles and skin exercised and toned, and take years off your appearance. Daily facial exercise may show improvements into your skin, profile and muscle tone in as little as a few weeks.

Neck and Throat Exercises

Keep your neck, jaw line and throat smooth and toned by performing this exercise at least once a day, suggests Ageless, an herbal anti-aging website. While sitting, tilt your head backward and look up at the ceiling. Keeping the lips closed pretend you're chewing gum. You'll feel the entire front of the throat working. Do this exercise about 20 times.

Firm a sagging or double chin by tilting your head backward with your lips gently pressed together, but not tight. Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth, and hold that contraction for about five seconds. Relax and then repeat the exercise between five and 10 times, suggests Age-Well.org.

You can add or adapt to this exercise by pursing your lips, like you're trying to kiss something on the ceiling. Hold your pucker for about 10 seconds and then relax and lower your head so your chin is parallel to the floor. Repeat this exercise between 10 and 20 times.

Smooth Forehead Exercises

Sit facing a mirror if you wish. Try to scowl, lowering your eyebrows as far as you can over the eyes while scrunching up your nose. Flare your nostrils as wide as you can. Hold this position for about 10 seconds. It will be hard at first, as you'll need to concentrate on the position of the eyebrows, the nose and the nostrils. Repeat the exercise about five times, suggests Ageless.

Firm Lips Exercise

Place your thumb in your mouth and suck inward as hard as you can, suggests Fitness Health Zone. Slowly, try to pull the thumb from your mouth while still retaining as much inward suction as you can. This exercise will help firm the circular muscle that surrounds the lip and mouth, as well as your cheeks. Repeat this exercise about 10 times a day.

Firm Cheeks Exercise

Place your middle fingers on each cheek, just below the cheekbone. Gently pull downward with the pads of your fingers while trying to smile big at the same time, suggests Fitness Health Zone. You can repeat this exercise between five and 10 times a sitting.
