There is also 2500 IU of vitamin A and 60 IU of vitamin E. Some of these levels are high above the daily recommended values. The amount of pantothenic acid, for example, is 400 percent more than recommended.
Minerals
Minerals can help your body remain healthy. Therapro Hair Gain for Women contains the minerals zinc and molybdenum. The 15 mg dose of zinc, which helps with immune function according to Medline Plus, is 100 percent of the daily recommended value. The amount of molybdenum, an element the American Cancer Society says is essential to nutrition, is 67 percent of that suggested for daily intake by the United States Department of Agriculture, or USDA.
Proprietary Blend
Among the ingredients in Therapro Hair Gain Vitamins for Female Hair Loss is a Proprietary Blend. Listed are ginko biloba, soy protein, black cohosh, fo-ti, ginger, milk thistle, horsetail, inositol, rosemary, sage and yam root. The value listed for this is 325 mg, but it does not break down the amount of the individual elements.
Herbs
In addition to the herbs in the proprietary blend, the women’s formula of Therapro Hair Gain lists the herbs saw palmetto berry extract and stinging needle. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, or NCAAM, actually lists saw palmetto as specifically used to combat hair loss. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, stinging nettle is used to treat urinary and arthritic diseases.
Other Ingredients
There are a few other ingredients listed for Therapro Hair Gain Vitamins for women. L-Cystine is an amino acid Ajinomoto Amino Science touts as helpful for wound healing and formation of the epithelial tissue. The American Cancer Society lists pregnenolone as a steroid and acknowledges that there is little known about its ability or safety in humans. In addition to the L-Cystine and pregnenolone, there is 50 mg of the protein hydrolysafe.
