False eyelashes help women to fill in naturally sparse eyelashes or to achieve a glamorous look for special events. Two options exist for fake eyelashes: Full lashes cover the entire lash line while individual lashes help fill in thin areas. Individual lashes generally look more natural than full false eyelashes, when applied correctly. The temporary individual eyelashes come in different lengths and colors for individual style. Correctly applying individual false eyelashes requires a steady hand and practice.
Step 1
Wash your face thoroughly, making sure there's no oil on your eyelids. Wipe a cotton ball soaked in astringent to remove any remaining oils.
Step 2
Apply eyeliner to the lash line of the upper eyelid. Smudge the eyeliner with your finger or makeup sponge. The eyeliner will help disguise the false eyelashes and make them appear more natural.
Step 3
Remove the individual lashes from the package with a pair of tweezers. Trim the lashes with a pair of scissors to suit individual style and needs. Keeping the lashes as close in length to the real eyelashes helps maintain a natural look after applying the individual lashes. You can also trim the eyelashes once you've applied them.
Step 4
Drop a small amount of lash glue onto a piece of aluminum foil.
Step 5
Grasp an individual lash with a pair of tweezers and dip the base into the adhesive.
Step 6
Wait for a few seconds for the glue to partially dry.
Step 7
Press the base of the false eyelash into place along the natural lash line. Placing the false eyelashes to the middle and outer corner of the eye looks most natural, according to eyelash manufacturer Royal Korindah.
Step 8
Continue adding false eyelashes until satisfied with the look. Around 10 to 16 lashes per eye are sufficient.
Step 9
Apply mascara to all the lashes, if desired.
Tips and Warnings
- Remove the lashes with eyelash remover.
- Avoid getting lash adhesive into the eye. Always apply the glue to the eyelash, not to the eyelid.
