Life Fitness produces several lines of treadmills for home, commercial and light-commercial use. Many Life Fitness treadmills feature MP3 player-compatible sound systems, USB connectivity, a shock-absorbing running deck, a virtual personal trainer and wireless connectivity to a chest strap heart rate monitor.
Life Fitness treadmill consoles are divided into two sections. The activity zone, positioned beneath and in front of the display console, contains buttons for adjusting the treadmill speed and incline during a workout. The display console displays information like current speed, incline and calories burned, and also contains buttons you’re likely to use before and after a workout.
Manual Mode
Step 1
Step onto the side rails on either side of the treadmill belt. This ensures that you don’t trip or fall if the belt starts moving faster than you had expected.
Step 2
Press the "Start" key. The belt will start moving at 0.5 mph. Hold onto the handlebars as you step onto the belt, walking slowly to keep up with it.
Step 3
Adjust the treadmill to the desired speed and incline setting with the speed up/speed down/incline up/incline down keys, located in the activity zone below the main console. You can also set the treadmill to a pre-selected low, mid or high incline and walk, run or jog speed by pressing the appropriately labeled keys on the main console.
Step 4
Press the "Cool Down" key once you’re done working out. This prompts the treadmill to automatically reduce speed and incline settings, giving your body a chance to gradually adapt back to a resting state.
Preset Programs
Step 1
Step onto the side rails on each side of the treadmill belt.
Step 2
Press any of the treadmill’s "Workout" buttons until the desired workout shows on the display console. How many Workout buttons you have to choose from depends on which treadmill model you’re using. Your options may include Workout Profile, Sports Training Workouts, Daily Workouts, Classic Workouts and HeartSync Workouts.
Step 3
Use the up and down arrows to enter values like your weight and age, when prompted to do so. Press "Start." The treadmill belt will start moving.
Step 4
Hold onto the treadmill’s handlebars as you step onto the belt and walk or run to keep up with it. Most preset programs include an automatic cool down, but you can push the "Cool Down" button at any time to exit the program and begin an automatic, treadmill-controlled cool down.
Tips and Warnings
- You can adjust the preset low, mid or high incline quick buttons, and the walk, run or jog speeds, to your own custom settings. Adjust the treadmill’s speed or incline to the desired setting, then press and hold the appropriate button for three seconds, until the console beeps to indicate the data has been stored. Note that the preset speed and incline buttons will revert back to the default values when you turn the treadmill off. If you use the HeartSync Workouts option, you must either wear a wireless heart rate monitor chest strap or grip the handle-mounted heart rate monitors, so that the treadmill can monitor your heart rate and adjust speed and incline accordingly.
