Patients may ask their physician if the use of an over-the-counter pain reliever such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen is safe to take for the relief of headache pain and discomfort. If headache becomes severe and is accompanied by dizziness, visual changes and lightheadedness, it should be reported to a physician.
Gastrointestinal Discomfort
Patients may experience gastrointestinal discomfort while taking Aciphex. Symptoms can include dry mouth, upset stomach, diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting and constipation, reports MedlinePlus. Taking this medication with food may help to alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort. Eating a bland diet with smaller meals more frequently may help combat nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Adding fruits, vegetables and foods high in fiber to the diet may help increase gastrointestinal motility and decrease constipation. Severe vomiting and diarrhea should be reported to a physician. If left untreated, dehydration could occur.
Drowsiness and Dizziness
Aciphex may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Patients should use caution while driving or completing tasks which may be dangerous. These side effects may be temporary until the body adjusts to daily treatment with Aciphex.
Insomnia
