Many of us in today’s society think that the only way to lose weight is to use diet pills and weight loss supplements. Although it is possible to lose weight that way, it is very hard and costly. There are quite a few alternative ways to lose weight for those who wish to choose a more “organic” route.

Remove Unhealthy Items One at a Time

We generally consume unhealthy foods a lot in our daily life, so eliminating them one at a time is a great way to start losing weight. Take a week between removing items. Start with your favorite cookie or candy then follow with your next favorite. You may want to remove cookies first, followed by beer or wine and then processed snack foods.

Lose the Unnecessary

A common mistake we make is going to fast food restaurants for a quick food fix. This is a terrible idea due to all of the fat and calories that fast food contains. A bacon double cheese burger and fries at McDonald’s is a total of 875 calories and 43.5 grams of fat. This is not including the milkshake or soda that you might get. If you eat this every day that's 6,125 calories and 304.5 grams of fat per week. One can of Pepsi a day, at 150 calories per can, adds up to 54,750 empty calories over the course of a year.

Office Work

If you work at a desk all day, you can find small ways to keep your body burning up calories. Some ways without causing a big scene are walking over to employees to talk instead of instant messaging one another or dancing and tapping your feet at a fast pace under your desk. For a few extra bucks you can buy ankle weights to wear under your pants while doing this. You can also use hand weights during meetings, walk on your break instead of drinking coffee, park farther away from your office, and stand while you’re on phone calls.

Extra Ways to Lose Weight

For every hour of extra walking total during your day, a woman 24, at 130 pounds, will burn an extra 269 calories. Some things you can do in your daily life are; walk to the trash can, wash your own car, park farther away from work and walk longer to the entrance. You may even like to walk on the beach (walking on sand burns more calories than normal walking.) Cleaning your house with some elbow grease is a great way to burn calories as well as fixing small house hold items or re organizing your bed room and office room. Make time for a brisk 30 minute walk before dinner or desert.

These are just a few alternative ways besides pills and false work out supplements to help you drop those inches and lose your pounds. Remember to fill yourself with plenty of water and to remove those wasted white carbohydrates right out of your daily intake. The long route to work or the market might be a few extra feet walking, but your body will be thanking you in the end. A light exercise and diet will do wonders for helping you lose weight.
