Anabolic Xtreme Superdrol is an illegal anabolic steroid that at one time was illegally marketed as a dietary supplement, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This product can cause long-term health problems. Athletes and bodybuilders sometimes take anabolic steroids to enhance performance, build muscle and speed recovery from workouts. However, if you have this product on hand, the FDA advises you to quit using it and return it to the place of purchase.

Liver Damage and Coronary Risk

Taking Superdrol may cause liver toxicity, according to the FDA. You also may end up with liver abnormalities and tumors, according to the Mayo Clinic. Such steroids also can lead to adverse effects on blood lipid levels--raising your “bad” LDL cholesterol while decreasing your “good” HDL cholesterol--and have the potential to increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Worrisome Effects

Anabolic steroids are sometimes prescribed to people after serious injury or illness to help to rebuild weakened tissues. However, those sold illegally often contain doses that are much higher than those prescribed for medical reasons, advise the experts at the Mayo Clinic, who also note that most sports organizations prohibit steroids. If taking steroids you need to consult a doctor immediately if you experience yellow skin or eyes, either light-colored or black tarry stools, dark urine, a sore throat or fever, red or purple spots on your body or inside your mouth or nose or vomiting of blood, warns the Drugs website. Also seek medical care if you have bone pain, a sore tongue, unusual bleeding, swollen feet or lower legs, abdominal pain, headache, unpleasant breath odor or hives.

Effects on Men and Women

Superdrol may cause unwanted effects including masculinization of women and breast enlargement in men, warns the FDA. The Mayo Clinic warns that men also may experience infertility, shrunken testicles and baldness. Women may develop an enlarged clitoris. Both men and women risk severe acne when taking anabolic steroids.

Mental Effects

Anabolic steroids can cause mental depression and other psychiatric disorders, increase or decrease in sexual desire or lead to aggressive behavior, rage or violence, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Effects on Teens and Children

Teens who take anabolic steroids risk inhibited growth and development as well as future health problems, warns the Mayo Clinic. Children who take anabolic steroids risk slowed bone growth, according to Drugs. In addition, steroids can cause male children to develop too fast sexually. Female children may experience malelike changes in their bodies.
