As long as staying completely dry isn’t your top priority, Seattle is a wonderful place to visit in April. Temperatures are relatively comfortable, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. It rains about half of the year in Seattle, and April is one of the wetter months. With an umbrella and some comfortable shoes, outdoor activities aren’t completely out of the question. Visitors to Seattle can have a fun and active vacation in April no matter the weather.

Tour

Lots of tourists love Seattle, ergo lots of tours are available. Walking tours are an excellent way to get to know the city while staying active. The rainy month of April is the perfect time for Seattle’s famous underground tour that explores historic passages once part of the city’s main streets. The Grey Line bus tour company also operates in Seattle. Grey Line tour guides are known nationwide for their friendliness, knowledge and entertaining style. And, as an added bonus, many of the double-decker tour buses are covered. Also, a trip to Seattle isn’t complete without a quick zip up the famous Space Needle.

Kayaking

With numerous lakes, rivers and bays, Seattle is a great city for water sports. Beginning kayakers can take an easy paddle around Lake Union or Green Lake. More adventurous water lovers might want to try sea kayaking. The Northwest outdoor center in Seattle offers whitewater kayaking classes that teach kayakers how to navigate challenging ocean waters. April weather is Seattle is pretty mild, and kayaking is a great way to see Seattle's waterways.

Shop

Who says shopping isn’t a sport? A day full of walking, shopping and sightseeing is a wonderful way to spend an April trip to Seattle. Seattle’s Pioneer Square district is perfect for architecture buffs and shoppers alike. Structure-lovers can gaze at buildings designed in the Second Renaissance-Revival, Beaux-Arts Classical and Richardsonian-Romanesque styles. Bargain-hunters will find a treasure trove of independently owned shops and stores to browse. Pioneer Square is also a great spot for nightlife, which is a perfect activity for April or any other month.

Music

Seattle was the home of grunge rock in the 90s and continues to be a hotbed of rock and alternative music. Nirvana and Pearl Jam, two of the biggest bands of that grunge decade, were both from Seattle. Today, headlining acts come through town often, and the city is filled with smaller venues where you can take in local bands. Notable music venues in Seattle include The Showbox and The Vera Project, The Paramount Theater and The Cobra Lounge. Experience the culture of the city while you dance the night away.

Sports

America’s favorite pastime, baseball, kicks off every April. Swing by the ballpark and check out Seattle's professional baseball team, the Mariners. The Mariners play at Safeco Field. Fans at the stadium have a sweeping view of Seattle’s downtown skyline. Towards the end of April you can also catch the Seattle Storm, the city’s WNBA team. Fans of men’s professional basketball are out of luck, though, as the Seattle SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.
