The KOA Campground in Wilmington, North Carolina, is located at 7415 Market St., five miles from the white sand of Wrightsville Beach on the Atlantic coast of North Carolina. This KOA features over 100 campsites shaded by large oak and pine trees and can accommodate RVs up to 65 feet in length.
Camping Facilities
Shaded tent-only sites located near the restrooms and hot shower facilities are available for $29 a night as of 2010. RV sites with water and electrical hook-ups only are available for $44 a night or choose a full hook-ups campsite for $59 a night, as of 2010. All campsites include a picnic table and fire ring. All RV sites include cable and Wi-Fi access. Also available are one bedroom Kamping Kabins that sleep up to four people for $77 a night, and two bedroom cabins that sleep up to six people for $87 a night. The KOA Wilmington also features a Kamping Lodge that accommodates six guests in a one bedroom facility that includes a kitchen and bathroom for $127 a night, as of 2010. Pets
Pets are not allowed in the tent campsites but are welcome in the RV campsites. Dogs must be kept on a six foot or smaller leash and can’t be left unattended while outside your vehicle or RV. Good behavior is required. Pets that are too vocal or act aggressively will be asked to leave the campground along with their owner. A Kamp KOA Bark Park for dogs featuring three fenced run areas is available in the campground.
Campground Amenities
A swimming pool large enough for lap swimming is open on-site from May 1 to Oct. 1. Also available are a horseshoe pit, volleyball court, game room, life size chess set and a children’s playground. The on-site Camp Store stocks a variety of forgotten items, camping gear, firewood, ice and souvenirs.
Water Activities
Wrightsville Beach is five miles from the campground and offers a variety of water sports. Rent a surfboard and ride the waves or take a surfing lesson or two. Other options are kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding. Equipment rental and tour outfitters are available at the beach. Fishing is available on the Cape Fear River, creeks and in the Atlantic Ocean.
Land Activities
Golf is available year-round at your choice of 45 public golf courses. The Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation Center offers a variety of Pilates, yoga, aerobics and boot camp classes as well as tennis facilities and lessons with a resident pro. Or rent a bicycle from a local bike shop and create your own tour of the Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach area.
