This exercise program is a form of aquatic aerobics. The goal of the program is to have you burn a large number of calories while exercising in a pool. You perform a variety of moves in the water, such as jumping jacks, lifts, ski motions and stretches. The program has general exercises for individuals with no medical conditions as well as specialized water exercises for pregnant women and knee replacement participants. According to the makers of this water exercise program, the no-impact moves help strengthen, relax and tone the body. The program is appropriate for individuals with no previous medical conditions as well as those who suffer from joint problems, arthritis, sports injury and fibromyalgia. The exercises are performed in deep water while you learn breathing techniques. The core muscles are often used in the program and flotation devices are not allowed. The program is available at participating fitness centers or a DVD can be purchased for home use.
