There is no such thing as a pair of shoes you can put on to eliminate cellulite, but there are shoes that can make your legs look more toned and possibly make cellulite less noticeable. The shoes just engage your leg muscles a bit more to give you a little more workout with each step. MBT have been around for a decade, but at a price tag of around $200 as of July 2010, are not affordable to many. Fit Flops first started the craze of accessible and less expensive anti-cellulite footwear in 2007. Now there are a number of brands with popular styles.
MBT
MBT calls their shoes the “anti-shoe.” They have a hefty price tag, but they also boast over 40 scientific studies that prove unique benefits of the shoes that include toning your leg muscles, which can help minimize your cellulite. Boots and sandals have been added to the original MBT sneakers. The foot bedding continues to be rounded, making a shoe that gets more kudos for being functional than being attractive. The sneakers and sandals are available for men and women.
FitFlop
When Marcia Kilgore, founder of Bliss Spas and Soap & Glory cosmetics, introduced Fitflops, they looked like flip flops with a thick bottom and had a FitFlop logo plastered on top between the toes. Despite the unattractive appearance, they went flying off the shelves. Praise for the sandals were touted by everyone from Oprah to the American Podiatric Medical Association. Consumers loved the way their legs looked in FitFlops and soon the companies had many styles and colors, including FitFlop boots and FitFlops for men.
Reebok Easy Tone
The Reebok Easy Tone sneaker costs about half the price of the MBT ones. They were just introduced in 2009. The company claims to have tested the sneakers on hundreds and have 20,000 hours of data showing that these shoes activate the gluteus maximus muscles 28% more than average sneakers. Toned legs can look like they have less cellulite and the shoes sold out quick enough that the company immediately introduced sandals.
Skechers Shape Ups
Skechers Shape Ups came out after the other styles of shoes that help with cellulite. Their oddly shaped sneakers put users in a rocking motion as they walk, one which the company says is helpful with blood circulation and back problems, among other things. In 2010, Skechers introduced their Shape Ups in sneakers for men and additional colors and styles for women, including sandals that look similar to the FitFlops.
