Lawn games provide recreation that persons of any athletic ability can enjoy. One of the most popular in this genre of games is bean bag toss, also known as cornhole, corn toss or baggo. While there are many companies that sell bean bag sets, building one yourself is relatively simple and requires only a minimal number of tools.

Step 1

Cut your 2x4s to length using a mitre saw or a handsaw in a mitre box. You need four boards 48 inches long, four boards 21 inches long and four boards 16 inches long. Use a circular saw to cut a sheet of 1/2-inch thick plywood into two pieces that measure 48 inches in length and 24 inches in width.

Step 2

Set two of the 48-inch and two of the 21-inch boards on their sides with the longer boards parallel to each other and the shorter boards perpendicular to those at each end. The 48-inch boards should be on the outside of the shorter boards, forming a rectangle that is 4 feet by 2 feet. Screw the boards together in this position using 2 1/2-inch wood screws. Use a countersink bit when you pre-drill the holes if you want the screws to be flush with the wood when you finish. Repeat the process so you have two rectangular frames.

Step 3

Match a plywood piece to each wood frame. This will cover one side of the frame and give you a platform that is 4 feet by 2 feet by 3 inches. Screw the plywood securely to each frame using wood screws.

Step 4

Measure in 12 inches from the long side of the platform and 9 inches down from the short side. Place a mark here. With the mark as the center, use a compass to draw a circle that is 6 inches in diameter. Cut this hole out using a jigsaw. Repeat the process for the other platform.

Step 5

Turn the platforms over and place two of the 16-inch boards vertically in the corners near the hole. Screw or bolt them in place and turn the platform back over so it now forms a sloped edge. Measure from the ground to the highest point of the platform face. If this measurement is more than 12 inches, cut off some of the leg pieces to compensate. Repeat the process for the other platform.

Step 6

Sand each platform and paint them with a color or design of your choosing.

Step 7

Cut out sixteen 7-inch by 7-inch squares of duck cloth. Use two colors of duck cloth so you have eight squares of each color. Match up two pieces of cloth that are the same color and sew a half-inch seam around three of the sides. Repeat this process until you have eight bags, four of each color.

Step 8

Fill each bag with two cups of dried feed corn. Sew the remaining side closed to complete your bean bag toss game.
