The city of Miami is filled with activities to keep you busy throughout your entire trip. Activities in this city include golfing, tennis and workouts at public parks. Tours
Hop on a bike and see the sights and attractions of Miami. There are several companies, such as the Miami Beach Bicycle Center, that rent bikes throughout this city, but you can also choose to take a guided tour of Miami. Miami Bike and Roll provides tours including art deco tours, South Beach tours, Bayfront Park tours and Miami River tours. The Art Deco tour takes bikers through Miami’s famous Art Deco district to view Casa Casuarina–the Versace Mansion– the Lincoln Road Memorial and the Bass Art Museum.
Golf
With over 30 golf courses in the Miami-Dade area, plan to bring your clubs with you on your trip to Miami. According to Frommers.com, the 18-hole courses at the Biltmore Hotel and the four championship courses at the Doral Golf Resort are two of the best golf courses in Florida. Doral Golf’s Blue Monster Course, for example, regularly hosts the PGA’s Ford Championship.
Tennis
Miami's 200 public tennis courts make it easy for you to play a match while in Southern Florida. Throughout the city you can find both clay and hard courts, many of which are lit for evening matches. In addition to the courts, tennis lessons and leagues for tournament play are also available. Courts are free to use and individuals can access the courts on a first come, first serve basis.
Yoga
Scattered across Miami are numerous yoga studios for you to complete your yoga practice. Yoga is a cardiovascular activity that helps stretch and strengthen your muscles. In Miami, you can find studios that have Iyengar, Ashtanga and Bikram yoga classes. Most studios do not require a membership and allow you to pay a small fee of $10 to $20 to take one class.
Fitness
If you are interested in working out in the south Florida sunshine, then pack your sneakers and be ready to break a sweat. In this city there are 13 parks with running paths, several of which feature fitness courses to enhance your workout. These courses include pull-up bars, balance beams and monkey bars. Additionally, the Miami Lakes West and the South Dade parks have adult playgrounds with exercise equipment.
