When visiting Cleveland, you will find many opportunities for education and fun. Here you can see full-size dinosaurs; learn about tornadoes; see a glove worn by Micheal Jackson; see and learn about many animals in their natural habitat; learn about healthy eating; and see a 3D movie about U2.
The Children's Museum
The Children's Museum feature's hands-on activities that will help children learn about themselves and the world around them. In one exhibit, they will learn about how to keep themselves healthy, eating right, and how to stay active. In another exhibit, they'll learn about water transportation, and the water cycle. Another exhibit helps them learn about the community in which they live through role play. They can go to the gas station, go the the doctor and grocery store, and even visit the hospital to pick up a new addition to the family.
The admission charge per person ages 12 months and older is $7, as of July, 2010.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
At the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, you can take your children on an animal adventure. Travel to the African Savanna where you will see monkeys, leopards, lions and rhino. Next, stop by Australia where you can see a show at the Ballorat Theater; tend some sheep at the Kookaburra Station; and see some kangaroo. After that, travel up north where you can see bear, tigers and sea lions. The rainforest exhibit features crocodile, turtles, insects and amphibians.
Admission prices through 10/31/10 are $10 per adult and $7 per child ages 2-11, under 2 is free.
The Great Lakes Science Museum
The Great Lakes Science Museum offers over 100 hands-on exhibits for you and your child to explore. Here you can learn about science topics such as sound, electricity, magnetism, optics and wind power. Learn about a tornado by sticking your hand inside a swirling one. Go into a shadow room where your shadow freezes but you don't.
Admission as of July 2010, is $9.95 per adults, $7.95 for children ages 2 to 18, and $8.95 for senior and students.
Cleveland Museum of Natural History
At the Cleveland Museum of Natural History there are many things to learn about. Begin by learning about the earth's rotation by studying the Foucault Pendulum. Next, see how deer, foxes, hawks and owls live in the their natural environment in the two-acre forest. Step back in time, thousands of years to prehistoric time and see full-size replicas of Triceratops and Tyrannosaur. There are also several temporary exhibits that travel to the museum that vary by season.
Admission rates, as of July 2010, are $10 for adults, $8 for children ages seven to 18, $8 for seniors and college students, $7 for children ages three to six, and children under two are free.
Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame
At the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame you and your child can learn and enjoy the past, present and future of music. Come and see the glove Michael Jackson wore when performing "Billy Jean" on tour. Here you can see a U2 movie in 3D; see instruments used by the Beatles; Elvis Presley's car; U2 Bono's first guitar; Jimi Hendrix's guitar.
Admission prices are $22 for adults; discount admission for Cleveland residents is $18. Admission for children ages nine to 12 is $13, children eight and under are free with an adult.
