How to Use an Image Treadmill

Image is a fitness company that produces a line of treadmills suitable for use in developing cardiovascular health. Different models of Image treadmills have their own specific set of features, but most share a similar construction and basic operating procedure; the devices are comprised of a treadmill deck attached to a console unit that controls all of the machine's functions. Once you have finished using your Image treadmill, you may fold the device up and roll it to a suitable storage location.

Basic Operation

Step 1

Plug the treadmill's power cord into a single-outlet surge protector, then plug the surge protector into a grounded electrical outlet. Inspect the circuit breaker located at the rear of the treadmill deck and confirm that it is set to the “reset” position.

Step 2

Clip the end of the safety key cord to your waistband. Stand on the sides of the treadmill deck and insert the safety key into the slot at the bottom of the console.

Step 3

Press the “start” button and wait for the treadmill belt to begin moving. Step onto the belt and begin walking. Press the “speed” buttons to increase or decrease the speed at which the belt moves. Press the “incline” buttons to raise or lower the rear of the treadmill deck.

Step 4

Review the information displayed on the console to determine how long you have been running and how many calories you have burned. Periodically stand on the side rails and place your hands on the metal pulse sensor contacts to test your pulse rate. Press the “fan” button to activate the built-in fan, if desired.

Step 5

Continue running for as long as desired, then press the “stop” button to stop the treadmill belt from moving. Pull the safety key out of the console and step off of the treadmill.

Storage

Step 1

Clip the safety key to your waistband, then insert the key into the console. Use the “incline” buttons to lower the treadmill's deck as far as possible. Remove the safety key from the console and unplug the treadmill's power cord from its electrical outlet.

Step 2

Grip the edge of the treadmill deck underneath the front support feet. Lift the deck upwards until it is halfway upright.

Step 3

Use your right hand to brace the treadmill deck in place. Pull out the locking knob, located on the side of the deck, with your left hand. Raise the deck the rest of the way up and align the latch catch over the latch pin. Release the locking pin.
