Adding vitamins to bottled water is an easy way to get an extra boost of nutrition without choking down big pills or green drinks. A number of powdered vitamin supplements on the market are designed to mix easily in water. Getting in the habit of supplementing with vitamins on a daily basis is a great way to ensure adequate nutrition.

Step 1

Place tablets into a pill crusher and grind into a fine powder if the vitamins are in tablet form. Powdered vitamin supplements come in single-serving packets or bulk canisters. Open the canister or packet and prepare a single serving of the supplement powder.

Step 2

Open the water bottle and create about 1-inch of empty space at the top. This will allow adequate room for mixing.

Step 3

Add vitamin powder into water bottle and replace cap tightly. Shake vigorously until mixed and there are no visible chunks of powder remaining. Open and enjoy.

Tips and Warnings

  • If the supplements do not dissolve well in the water, try adding juice. This can help with the disintegration as well as any undesirable flavors from the vitamins.
  • Do not attempt to crush any vitamins that are specifically designed to be time released. Time release vitamins must dissolve slowly, therefore crushing them would cause an overdose-like effect. If unsure, ask a pharmacist before crushing any supplements. Medications should never be crushed.

Things You'll Need

  • Water bottle with cap
  • Water or juice
  • Vitamin supplement (tablets or powdered)
  • Pill crusher (if using tablets)
