Belly fat can be a source for serious medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, stroke, metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea. Many different methods are used to get rid of belly fat. Exercise, surgery and diet are the most commonly used methods to get rid of belly fat.

Diet

To lose belly fat by lowering your calorie intake, you force your body to begin breaking down its fat stores for energy. It is best to avoid high calorie foods such as pastries, and fast food. Liquid calories should also be avoided: soft drinks, sports drinks and energy drinks all are beverages with high calorie content.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a simple surgical procedure during which a small incision is made on your abdomen through which a plastic surgeon can suction out fat using an aspirator and a hollow tube. Liposuction can only remove a limited amount of fat every session and is only performed on individuals who are at very little risk of surgical complications.

Aerobic Exercises

There are no exercises that specifically target belly fat. To reduce your belly fat you should work toward lowering your body's general fat level. Aerobic exercises are effective in lowering body fat. During the first 25 minuted of a aerobic workout your body breaks down recently ingested food; after 25 minutes of strain your body begins to break down fat. If you exercise in the morning before eating your body will break down fat from the initial portion of the workout. Swimming, running, jumping, martial arts, and skating are all aerobic exercises.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is a complex surgical procedure which is also known as an abdominoplasty. A tummy tuck is a lot more traumatic than a liposuction; the surgeon removes abdominal fat, excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. Considerably more fat is removed during an abdominoplasty than during a liposuction operation.

Anaerobic exercise

Anaerobic exercise is also called resistance training. This type of exercise is used to increase your body's muscle mass. The more muscular an individual is, the more calories she burns using her muscles and maintaining them. Anaerobic exercise may not burn as many calories immediately, but it does speed up your metabolism considerably. Push-ups, dead lifts, bench presses and sit-ups are all anaerobic exercises.
