Sensitive skin typically reacts negatively to common ingredients found in facial skincare products, such as fragrances and synthetic dyes. Such skin irritation can leave your face looking red and bumpy and sometimes feeling burned or itchy. Facial products designed for your skin condition can soothe, nourish and calm irritated, sensitive skin.
DHC Cleansing Milk
DHC's cleansing solution is ranked as one of the best skin cleansers for sensitive skin by skincare expert Paula Begoun. In her review, she called it "excellent" if you're looking for a product that lifts away oil and dirt without detergents. As it cleans, it also soothes and moisturizes with antioxidant-rich olive oil and meadowfoam seed oil. Begoun says it's ideal for even rosacea-afflicted skin.
Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer
Exfoliating helps to naturally brighten your skin by removing surface skin cells. Unfortunately, many exfoliators rely on physical granules or harsh chemicals that are too irritating for sensitive skin. Not so with Clinique's product, according to InStyle magazine. It ranked Turnaround Concentrate as one of the best exfoliators. It uses salicylic acid to exfoliate both your skin surface and inside your pores.
Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizer SPF 30
Aveeno's facial moisturizer is one of the best sensitive skin products, according to Marie Claire magazine. It moisturizes with soothing emollients plus broad-spectrum, wrinkle-defending UV protection in a fragrance-free formula. Aveeno also adds feverfew, a herbal extract that helps calm and reduce red, irritated skin conditions.
Dr. Brandt Anti-Irritant Soothing Moisturizer
Begoun calls Dr. Brandt's facial cream "an ultra-soothing moisturizer for sensitive skin." She praises its use of peptides, which can help repair your skin cells and protect against future damage. Begoun also loved the addition of shea butter--a natural moisturizer--and skin-soothing pumpkin extract. Additional beneficial ingredients include marine water, vitamin E and glistin.
