By eating, breathing and engaging in daily activities, you are constantly introducing toxins into your body. In the book “Body Detox Made Easy,” the nonprofit Wings of Success asserts that the body requires detoxification for health and happiness. As a result, many detoxification programs exist to help to eliminate these toxins while promoting overall health.

Spring Cleanse

The wintertime is rife with pathogens and toxins introduced into the body through both regular daily interaction as well as drugs to treat periodic illnesses. According to Linda Page in her book, “Healthy Healings Detoxification,” a “Spring Cleanse” is important in order to rid your body of this accumulation. This detox program is actually a light diet that includes plants high in chlorophyll as well as enzymes, fruits as well as vegetables that are high in fiber, cultured foods such as yogurt that are probiotic and at least eight glasses of water per day. This detox diet promotes healthy digestion, the removal of wastes, the introduction of antioxidants and a rise in energy. Page recommends maintaining this detox diet for three days.

Twenty-Four Hour Cleanse

In “Healthy Healings Detoxification,” Linda Page affirms that a 24 hour cleanse is an excellent tool when you are not feeling well, such as in the case of, “unexplained low energy, poor skin or congestion.” Page also posits that this detox program is especially effective for those with demanding schedules. It does not require any changes in lifestyle. It begins with a meal of leafy greens high in chlorophyll and a “dry brush” of the skin to open pores the night before. For the next 24 hours, you are to limit your consumption to natural fruit juice, water as well as herbal tea, and engage in moderate exercise.

Stress Cleanse

According to “Healthy Healing Detoxification,” a Stress Cleanse is a holistic and comprehensive cleanse that Page avers eliminates toxins and rebuilds tissue. You can use this cleanse for any amount of time, though Page recommends that you continue it for at least three to seven days. Each day you employ this cleanse, you should drink eight ounces of water that contains juice from two fresh lemons and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup; a juice made from fresh wheatgrass or parsley, carrots, apples, celery and beets; a juice made from apple juice or carrot juice supplemented with 1 tablespoon of green superfood mix; a juice made from parsley, tomatoes, red pepper, cucumber, scallion and lemon; a cup of green or mint tea; and a soup made from broccoli, leek, peas, scallions, chard leaves, fennel, fresh parsley, garlic cloves, asparagus extract, vegetable stock, cayenne pepper, green cabbage and sea vegetables like seaweed. Page recommends that you also exercise, visit a sauna or take a hot bath, have a massage as well as an enema and practice deep breathing.
