Homemade Cleansing Face Scrub

Clean your face with a homemade cleansing scrub and you'll feel like you just stepped out of the spa, except without the expense. A facial scrub will open your pores and remove dry and dead cells from the surface of your skin. leaving your face feeling alive and rejuvenated. Make the scrub in your own kitchen and you'll know that the ingredients are fresh and healthy. Limit use of a facial scrub to once weekly, advises Natural Beauty, and avoid using a facial scrub on acne unless the acne is completely healed.

Step 1

Place 2/3 cup of organic rolled oats in a blender or food processor. Pulverize the oats into a fine powder. Add 1/4 cup of powdered milk or rice flour and 1 tbsp. cinnamon to finish the basic scrub. Add 1 tsp. of brewers yeast for oily skin. Store the basic scrub in an airtight container.

Step 2

Place 3 tsp. of the basic scrub in a small bowl when you are ready to use the scrub. Mix in enough wet ingredients to form a paste. Spa Living for Health suggests yogurt, honey, milk, cream or fruit. For oily skin, add a few drops of lemon juice. Egg yolk is especially good for dry skin. Orange juice or celery juice will freshen and rehydrate mature skin.

Step 3

Wash your face with warm water. Massage the facial scrub onto your face, using very light pressure. Avoid applying the facial scrub to the area under your eyes, as the thin skin can be damaged by the abrasive ingredients in the scrub, suggests WomensHealthBeauty.com.

Step 4

Rinse your face with warm water. Use a soft towel to pat your face dry. Apply your favorite moisturizer.
