Losing your hair can be a traumatic and embarrassing experience. Many people feel self-conscious about how they look when they start to bald or show signs of baldness. Hair loss predominantly happens to older men; however, anyone can lose his hair. Hair loss happens when hair follicles cease to produce keratin, the most essential element in new hair growth. This results from stress, a poor diet, an illness, but mostly because of hereditary conditions. You can, however, regrow your hair after hair loss by applying the right medication, eating the right foods and drinking enough water.
Step 1
Go to your doctor and undergo steroid injections to regrow hair after hair loss. The Health Communities website reports that steroid injections are the best form of treatment for people who suffer from small patches of hair loss.
During steroid treatment, your doctor will inject a solution of steroids into the patches where you want to renew your hair. The steroids stop your skin cells from attacking each other and instead grow new, healthier cells that can produce keratin again. You should see new hair growth after just a few weeks.
Step 2
Hydrate your body. When you don't drink enough water, you don't supply your body with enough nutrients to keep your skin follicles healthy enough to grow keratin. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking 64 ounces of water, or foods containing water, each day.
Step 3
Use minoxidil to regrow your hair after hair loss. Minoxidil is a chemical that you can buy at nearly any pharmacy. It comes in the form of a foam that you rub into the areas of your head where you want to regrow your hair. The Mayo Clinic recommends using minoxidil, however, no one is exactly sure how it works to regrow your hair.
Step 4
Eat a diet full of protein. Protein helps your skin cells get the nutrients it needs to help hair follicles start producing keratin, which helps regrow hair. Protein keeps your hair looking healthy and not only helps new hair growth, but makes your current hair stronger. At every meal, eat foods that contain a high amount of protein, such as tofu, eggs, beans and yogurt.
