Create a home spa experience in the bedroom and bathroom by adding several elements to the rooms. A home spa experience can be relaxing and a way to release stress. Pampering oneself during a spa treatment at home is easy, and is not as expensive as a high-end day spa.
Five Quick Steps to Create A Home Spa Experience
Step 1
Fill the bathtub with warm water. A variety of products can be used in the bath to aid in relaxation. Rose petals naturally soften the skin. One cup of Epsom salt can be added while the water is still running--the salt increases perspiration and removes waste from the body. Bath fizz balls, essential oils and bubble bath are additional options.
Step 2
Warm up towels and lotion. Use a towel warmer to add heat to towels. An alternative is to place the towels over a radiator or in the dryer while bathing. To avoid dry skin, use lotion after the bath. Place the lotion in hot water before getting into the bathtub. The lotion will warm up after several minutes and will be ready to use after the bath.
Step 3
Create a facial scrub out of at-home items. Mix together 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of honey. Apply to facial areas and rub the sugar into your face. Do not scrub. Create salt scrubs by mixing 1 cup salt with 2 to 3 tbsp. of almond oil. Add a few drops of essential oils such as lavender or citrus for additional scents.
Step 4
Steam the face to open and clean pores. Heat a pot of water---do not bring it to a boil, but make sure the water is very warm. Place the pot on the table. Add several drops of essential oil or place actual herbs into the water for additional scent. Place your face over the pot and cover your entire head with a towel. Allow the steam to open your pores. Steam your face for about 10 minutes.
Step 5
Warm up some water and place it in a foot tray. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt to aid in relaxation. Use a pumice stone to slough off any dead or rough surfaces from your feet. Clip your toenails and apply toenail polish for a quick at-home pedicure.
