According to the Mayo Clinic, moles, commonly known as nevi within the medical community, most commonly appear as small dark brown spots on the skin, but they do come in a variety of colors, including red. While most moles are not dangerous, new moles should be checked by a doctor as soon as possible to rule out cancer cells. For non-cancerous moles that pose no danger, there are some home remedies that may help to remove them from your skin. These treatments have not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration however, so talk with your doctor first.
Pineapple, Lemon and Jojoba Essential Oil
According to Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy,” a mixture of pineapple essential oil, lemon essential oil and jojoba oil can be applied to the skin to help get rid of brown and red moles on the skin. To make and use this mixture, combine ½ tsp. pineapple essential oil, ½ tsp. lemon essential oil and 8 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small container and shake vigorously to combine. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto the mole and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing with cool water and washing with a gentle cleanser. This treatment can be repeated in the morning and evening as long as no irritation occurs, and unused portions of this mixture can be kept in a cool, dark place for a month.
Baking Soda, Banana Paste and Lime Juice
According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Food and Home Remedies Since 1939,” a mixture of baking soda, banana paste and lime juice can be applied as a topical treatment for moles. To make and use this mixture, combine 1 tbsp. baking soda with ½ peeled banana and 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice in a blender or food processor and puree on high speed for 15 seconds. Apply a thick layer of the mixture to the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water and washing with a gentle cleanser to remove the sugars. This treatment can be applied once daily as long as it does not bother your skin. Unused portions of this mixture can be kept in the refrigerator for 48 hours.
Grapefruit, Fig and Coconut Essential Oil
According to Ann Worwood, a mixture of grapefruit essential oil, fig essential and coconut oil can be applied to the skin to help get rid of moles. To make and use this mixture, combine ½ tsp. grapefruit essential oil, 1 tsp. fig essential oil and 10 tsp. coconut oil in a small bottle or jar and shake vigorously to combine. Pour a small amount of the mixture onto a clean cotton ball and dab the cotton ball on the mole. Leave the liquid on your skin for 10 minutes before rinsing with cool water and washing with a gentle cleanser. This treatment can be used in the morning and evening as long as no irritation occurs. Unused portions of this mixture can be kept in a cool, dark place for three to four weeks, if necessary.
