You can determine a healthy weight range for your height by using the body mass index (BMI) formula. Your BMI, indicates whether you have a healthy weight for your height. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 indicates a healthy weight in adults older than 20. To determine your ideal weight, plug your height and a healthy BMI value into the BMI formula. BMI equals your weight in pounds divided by your height in inches, squared, and multiplied by a conversion factor of 703.

Lowest Perfect Weight

Step 1

Divide 18.5 by 703. Your calculator should show .0263. The BMI value 18.5 represents the lowest healthy BMI value for adults, according to the CDC.

Step 2

Square your height in inches. For example, if you measure 5 feet, 6 inches tall, multiply 66 by 66 to get 4,356.

Step 3

Multiply the answer you found in step two by the answer you found in step one. For example, if you measure 5-foot-6, multiply 4,356 by .0263. Your calculator should show 114.56. This number represents the low end of your ideal weight range. If you weight 114.56, you have a BMI of 18.5.

Highest Perfect Weight

Step 1

Divide 24.9 by 703 using a calculator. Your calculator should show .0354. The BMI value 24.9 represents the highest healthy BMI value for adults, according to the CDC.

Step 2

Square your height in inches. For example, if you measure 5-foot-6, multiply 66 by 66 to get 4,356.

Step 3

Multiply the answer you found in step two by the answer you found in step one. So multiply 4,356 by .0354. Your calculator should show 154.20. This number represents the high end of your ideal weight range. If you weight 154.20, you have a BMI of 24.9.
