Children benefit from playing outdoors, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Adults also benefit from the exercise and fresh air you get when playing outside. Visit your neighborhood park to play fun lawn games such as Frisbee and tag. Remember to protect your skin from the sun by wearing a hat or applying sunscreen on your face, shoulders and all exposed areas of skin.
Frisbee
Two or more people can play Frisbee; one person throws the plastic flying disc to the other player. Grass is good for playing Frisbee, because if you dive for a catch or fall, the surface is soft. You can play Frisbee with many people. If you have enough people to make teams, you can play keep-away, in which one team passes the Frisbee to its members, and the other team tries to intercept it and gain control.
Tag
Tag is a very simple lawn game. One player is "it," and he counts to 10 to give the other players a head start. Then he runs after the other players; when he tags one, that player is out of the game. Designate a spot as home base, where you cannot be tagged. However, you can rest at home base only briefly. The last player tagged becomes "it" in the next game.
Croquet
Croquet is a lawn game that is based on skill and tactical ability, according to the Oxfrord Croquet Association. Traditionally a croquet court is an area of lawn that is 35 yards by 28 yards. If you have a smaller area, set up a smaller court; just keep the ratio of 5 to 4. You set up hoops, called wickets, in the court, and each player uses a croquet mallet to propel her croquet ball the length of the field, passing the ball through the wickets .
