Things to Do Around Sea Isle City, New Jersey

Sea Isle City is located on the southern tip of the Jersey shore and is considered a premier summer vacation destination. You will find Sea Isle 35 minutes from Atlantic City, 90 minutes from Philadelphia and 2.5 hours from New York City. Water sports are available at the white sandy Atlantic beaches in Sea Isle City and neighboring towns, and there are educational attractions nearby.

Swimming, Rafting and Volleyball

Sea Isle City offers a variety of activities on city beaches. Beach tags must be used for Sea Isle City beaches every day except Wednesday, the “Free Beach Day,” and they may be purchased on JFK Boulevard. Swimming and rafting are available on designated beaches from 24th Street to 92nd Street. Two volleyball nets are located at several beach sites, including 15th Street, 53rd Street and 72nd Street.

Kayaking and Sailing

Kayaking is allowed at 30th, 56th and 79th Streets in Sea Isle City. For those who want to launch a sailboat, a license is required. The sailboat launching beach is located between 20th and 22nd Streets.

Surfing

Eight beaches are reserved for surfers from 26th Street to 82nd Street. Among these are the beaches at 37th Street, 42nd Street and 63rd Street.

Surf Fishing

For surf fishing, go to the Townsend Inlet Bridge area south of 93rd Street, the beaches north of 20th Street, and the beaches adjacent to rock jetties that are not reserved for surfing or kayaking.

Beachfront Promenade

Sea Isle City has a 1.5 mile promenade along the beach. The promenade is the ideal location for biking, jogging and in-line skating. While you are there, take advantage of shopping and leisure activities including the amusement park, summer concerts, and boating from the municipal marina. Of course, you might stop for a dip in the inviting waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cape May County Zoo

The Cape May County Zoo near Sea Isle offers 250 different species on 85 acres. Admission to the zoo is free of charge, although donations are appreciated. Visitors will enjoy an educational experience with an opportunity to view mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles in well-maintained, realistic animal exhibits. The zoo is open every day except Christmas from 10 am to 4:45 pm during the summer, and from 10 am to 3:45 pm in the winter.
