What Are the Benefits of Positive Thinking?
Renowned motivational speaker and coach Les Brown said that, "Negative self-talk is the reason that most people take their dreams into the graveyard." Thinking positively allows you to feel good most of the time but also encourages you to act on that which you deem worthwhile. In fact, a person's outlook on life decides what she has the ability to acknowledge, experience and feel in any given situation. A popular proverb asserts that "you only see what you look for and only recognize what you know." Positive people are determined to find the best in every encounter, and they look for opportunities to live their highest ambitions.
Information is Indeterminate
Facts can be construed in many different ways. Whichever manner one chooses to interpret the data at hand will create a story that defines what responses are available to him at that time. For this reason, thinking positively allows a person to "tune in" to a higher frequency; to think and act predicated on a superior meaning. Every view of the world places certain areas in focus and removes others. By thinking positively, one brings the joys of life into light and reduces the appearance of unwanted distractions.
Learning
Thinking positively transforms worries into instruments of learning. Human beings are goal-oriented creatures. Worry is simply a projected belief that some future goal will meet disaster. Positive people expect to win. Moreover, they remained grounded in the present, focusing on the most productive thing to be done in the moment in relation to what it is they want. Doing this cultivates peace of mind and a sense of overall purpose.
Opportunities
Winston Churchill, former British Primer Minister, said that "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty". A person will always act in a manner consistent with his dominate thoughts. People who think negatively will unconsciously attract more occasions to be offended. Someone who is sure that his efforts will fail will not attempt with enough determination to see himself through the challenge. The mind always looks for evidence to validate that which it holds as true. This is why positive thinkers find more reasons to be positive, and negative people will always come across justification to despair. Positive people have tremendous energy that brings forth the best in themselves and others.
